Somerset-Berkeley Regional School Committee unanimously approved a $22.5 million preliminary budget for the 2026-2027 school year at its March 12 Zoom meeting.
SOMERSET -- March 12, 2026, Somerset-Berkeley Regional School Committee unanimously approved a $22.5 million preliminary budget for the 2026-2027 school year at its March 12 Zoom meeting. The committee voted 6-0 to adopt a preliminary spending figure of $22,555,875, which represents a gross year-over-year increase of 2.61 percent, offset by anticipated revenue growth to a net increase of 1.82 percent. Chief Financial Officer Raquel Pellerin noted that final health care cost figures are expected within weeks and that the governor's budget remains subject to change, both factors that could shift the final number. The final budget, which requires a two-thirds supermajority vote, must be adopted by March 31, following a public hearing set for March 16 at 6 p.m. at the Somerset-Berkeley Regional High School Library.
