Zoning Board Continues Battery Storage Hearing to Oct. 15
Zoning Board · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Somerset Zoning Board continues battery storage hearing to Oct. 15 as peer reviews drag on. Chair Steven Cadorette and Vice Chair Bernard Miranda joined a third member in a unanimous 3-0 vote to push the Somerset Energy Storage LLC permit hearing past its original fall timeline, with the venue still undetermined. Peer reviewer Chase Gerbig told the board his firm now sees no reportable soil or groundwater contamination at the 1606 Riverside Avenue site but still wants hydrogen fluoride and particulate data added to the project's fire plume study.
The applicant disclosed that manufacturer Fluence has released quieter "V2" equipment data that could lower projected noise levels. Resident Lloyd Mendez urged the board to get its "three experts... in a room with a cup, some coffee" to compare notes. The board also approved its September 24 minutes on the same 3-0 roll call.
