SOMERSET — The Zoning Board of Appeals approved three home-occupation special permits by 3-0 votes each, despite neighbor complaints about noise, stored equipment and parking. Chair Steven Cadorette and alternate members Michael Martin and Steven Affonso cast every vote. Abutter Ted Parada said two years of unpermitted activity at a Center Street dive business left him dealing with "gas, acetone" smells and said his "autistic grandkids" were afraid to play outside.
Neighbor Gary Langlis on Seward Avenue said his block "is starting to look like an industrial park" after multiple home-business permits. The board conditioned all three approvals on keeping business equipment indoors, barring client visits, and said enforcement falls to Building Inspector James Aguiar, not the board itself.
