Somerset CPA panel sets $20,000 reserve, new calendar
Other Committee · Meeting of May 13, 2026
Somerset's Community Preservation Committee sets aside $20,000 to explore hiring procurement help after years of project delays. Chairman Tim Turner was reappointed unanimously and told members the panel is working with $545,457 for fiscal 2027, built from $397,302 in net surcharge revenue plus an assumed 12 percent state match of $47,676. Member Todd Koster, pushing for a consultant to shepherd projects through bidding, said the current process is "a huge drag" on town staff time, citing a basketball court project at Odeo Field that was engineered up to $375,000 before coming in at $115,000.
The board also reconsidered and revised its fall eligibility deadline after realizing it fell on a Thursday, conflicting with the Board of Selectmen's meeting night, settling on October 14, October 28, November 9 and December 9 as the new 2026 CPA review dates.
