Water · Meeting of June 17, 2026
Somerset water board adds $231,000 to main contract, hears yearlong sewage odor complaint. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve change order No. 1 with Coastal Water and Sewer Excavation, raising its water main replacement contract from $1,412,195 to $1,643,195 using a $200,000 congressional grant. Cherry Street resident Barbara Magiacomo told the board she has endured more than a year of sewage and ammonia smells from a town pump station near her home, saying "It is, I'm a wreck.
I am an absolute wreck." Commissioner Bednarik asked residents to route complaints to all three commissioners together. The board also tabled an $85,000 addendum request from Park Corporation on the Sunset Reservoir Dam project, sent a resident's open meeting law complaint to town counsel, and reviewed a 10-year water capital plan flagging lead service line and meter-replacement costs ahead.
