Board of Selectmen · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Somerset selectmen postponed a $142,973.91 ball field contract and authorized a reply to an open meeting law complaint. The Board of Selectmen delayed signing the South Complex Ball Field Restoration Project agreement with Sports Turf Specialists Inc. after the vendor failed to return a signed copy. The board unanimously authorized Town Administrator Mark to respond to a complaint filed by resident Patrick Higgins alleging the board improperly cited executive session authority.
Selectmen also accepted $3,580 from Horn & Millwork's car show and $1,500 from Mechanics Bank for the Veterans Department, both for programs run by Veterans Service Officer Joshua Rancourt. Selectman Allen Smith credited the town administrator with cutting a projected insurance increase from 30 percent to roughly 10 percent, saying it "just saved us $2 million." A vote on the administrator's pay increase was pushed to a future meeting.
