Water · Meeting of October 14, 2026

Somerset Water and Sewer Commission approved an oversized interior grease trap for a planned Wingstop, letting it skip a separate exterior tank. Matthew Yadgood of Surmount Development, representing Wingstop, agreed to submit monthly cleaning-manifest reports, calling it "a brand standard of ours" given how common grease blockages have become. The commission also signed a fiscal 2027-2028 rate study with Mark Abrams, CPA, dated October 7, 2026, covering Somerset and Swansea customers, and approved updated organizational charts that a commissioner said show the water and sewer departments "fully staffed" for the first time in memory.

Three pool-related sewer abatements were approved, totaling $68.67, $137.34 and $98.10 for gallons ranging from 7,000 to 14,000. Two other abatement requests were tabled, as was an engineering agreement with Weston-Sampson pending legal review. Staff also detailed an overnight manhole excavation near the fire and police complex after crews found a manhole nearly filled with a concrete-like substance.
