Somerset Water Board Rescinds Agrisource Sludge Bid
Water · Meeting of April 22, 2026
Somerset Water and Sewer Commission scraps Agrisource sludge deal after monthslong impasse. Commissioners voted 3-0 Wednesday to rescind their request for proposals with Agrisource Incorporated over indemnification terms attorney Matt Fair of KP Law called a dealbreaker: "we can't indemnify a third party." The town will rebid the work as two separate contracts, one for cake and one for liquid sludge disposal, while an existing hauler covers liquid sludge in the interim. The board also reorganized leadership, naming Bob Katarat chairman, with Ednarek as vice chairman and Lima as clerk, and made three personnel moves, promoting Richard Arruda IV to meter reader and hiring two new distribution laborers.
Officials said the fiscal 2027 water and sewer budget goes before a joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen April 30, while the capital plan and a four-year, grant-funded water audit continue.
